The Inkbird ITC-308S is a dual stage temperature controller built for aquariums. It comes with a fully submersible aquarium probe and two outlets: one for a heating device and one for a cooling device such as a chiller or fan. It can also control a single heater or cooler on its own. Inkbird sells it under two listings, one in black and one in a green, gray and white package; both are the ITC-308S.
Why use a controller
Aquarium heaters have their own thermostats, but those can fail. With the heater plugged into the ITC-308S and set slightly higher than your target, the Inkbird does the switching and the heater thermostat becomes a backup. In summer, the cooling outlet can run a fan or chiller from the same probe reading.
Aquarium probe

The probe is fully submersible and corrosion resistant, which suits fresh water, sea water, coral tanks, ornamental shrimp and tropical fish. Inkbird notes it works better in water than a standard probe.
Display and alarms

Dual display windows show measured and set temperature at the same time, in Celsius or Fahrenheit. There are high and low temperature alarms and a sensor failure alarm, plus temperature calibration so you can match a trusted thermometer.
Power

- Maximum output load: 1200 W (110 V)
- Input: 100 to 240 VAC, 50Hz or 60Hz
- Max. 10 A
Setup tips
Place the probe in good flow, away from the heater. Set alarms a degree or two either side of your target. Keep the controller above the tank with a drip loop on every cord.
Compare
The Inkbird ITC-308 is the general version without the aquarium probe. For a heating-only controller with day and night settings, see the Inkbird ITC-306T.
Who it suits
Reef keepers, shrimp keepers and anyone in a climate with hot summers and cold winters who wants one controller managing both heating and cooling with alarms.
The Bottom Line
A complete heating and cooling controller for aquariums.
