The Inkbird ITC-306T with Aquarium Probe is a plug-in heating controller for aquariums. Your heater plugs into it, and the Inkbird switches power based on its own probe reading. It is a heating controller only, with no cooling function.

Day and night settings

The ITC-306T supports dual time cycles: different daytime and night temperatures within 24 hours. In nature, water cools slightly at night, and some keepers like to mimic that for fish, shrimp or plants.

Two outlets

There are 2 heating outlets, so you can run two heaters on one controller. In a large tank, two heaters at opposite ends give even heat and a backup if one fails. Maximum output load is 1200 W (110 V).

The aquarium probe resists corrosion and comes with a suction tray. It suits freshwater and seawater aquariums, coral tanks, shrimp tanks and tropical fish.

Display and alarms

Dual displays show readings in Celsius or Fahrenheit. Temperature calibration lets you match it to a trusted thermometer. A sensor fault alarm warns of probe problems. If the temperature goes outside the fixed range of -50°C/-58°F to 99°C/210°F, it turns off all outputs, sounds the buzzer and displays “HL”.

Setup tips

  • Set your heaters a little above the target so the Inkbird controls them.
  • Place the probe away from the heaters, in good flow.
  • Calibrate against a reliable thermometer.
  • Keep the unit above the waterline with a drip loop.

Compare

If you also need cooling, the Inkbird ITC-308 adds a cooling outlet and adjustable alarms. Pair either with a guarded heater like the hygger 300W.

Who it suits

Reef, shrimp and planted tank keepers who want a day and night schedule plus a backup thermostat for their heaters.

The day and night feature can also reduce power use slightly by letting the water cool a little overnight.

The Bottom Line

A useful heating controller with a day and night schedule.
