The NICREW HyperReef 100 Gen 2 is a 100W reef aquarium light for SPS and LPS corals and saltwater fish tanks. It has 5 fully programmable channels and an enhanced violet and blue spectrum aimed at coral growth and fluorescence. A larger HyperReef 200 Gen 2 uses the same design at double the wattage.

Optics and coverage

A custom wide-angle optical system spreads light over a broad area and evens out PAR, which avoids the bright hotspots that can burn corals placed directly under a puck light. That makes placement more forgiving across the rockwork.

Two USB-C control ports let the light connect to an external controller, sold separately, for detailed scheduling across all channels. Plan for that controller if you want custom curves beyond the basics.

Mounting

NICREW offers several mounting options for Gen 2: multiple-light mounting systems, single light mounting arms and hanging kits. Choose based on whether you will add more units later.

Bringing corals under it

  • Run a long acclimation, starting low and adding intensity weekly.
  • Keep SPS higher in the rock once they have adjusted; keep LPS lower and in gentler flow.
  • Track alkalinity closely, as growth rises with light.

Fit for your tank

The 100 suits a typical mixed reef where a single strong fixture covers the main rock structure. If the tank is long, two units or the 200 make sense. Compared with the NavaReef 65, the HyperReef gives more output and channels for SPS keepers.

Buy the mounting option you need at the same time as the light so it is not left resting on the rim. Before adding corals, record your settings in the controller and keep notes on each change, which makes it far easier to trace any coral reaction back to a lighting adjustment.

The Bottom Line

A capable mid-size reef light for keepers moving into SPS.
