The NICREW NavaReef 65 is a 65W reef aquarium light built for soft corals, LPS corals and saltwater fish tanks. Its spectrum is blue focused, which fits the way most reef keepers light coral and brings out fluorescence.
Spectrum and optics
NICREW concentrates most of the power between 440 and 480nm. Custom lenses with a 90° beam angle push PAR deeper into the water while still covering the tank, which helps on taller aquariums where an unfocused light loses intensity near the sand.
Cooling

A fan handles heat dissipation and runs near-silently. A removable mesh keeps dust out of it; pull and rinse that mesh now and then, since reef rooms collect salt creep and dust.
Control

You can run the light on its built-in timer or connect it to an external controller. If you already use a controller for pumps and dosing, that keeps everything on one schedule.
Mounting

A standard tank mount is included and works on rimmed or rimless tanks. A hanging kit is sold separately for open-top setups.
Getting started with corals
- Begin at reduced intensity and raise it over several weeks so corals can adjust.
- Place soft corals and LPS lower in the rockwork first and move them up only if they look pale or stretched.
- Keep salinity steady with a good mix such as Red Sea Coral Pro.
Who it suits
Hobbyists setting up a mixed soft coral and LPS reef who want a simple fixture with good blue color. Keepers aiming for demanding SPS may prefer a more powerful fixture like the AI Prime 16HD.
Mount it centered over the main rockwork and check coverage at the corners; on a wider tank you may want two units. Note that reef lights encourage algae in a new system as well as coral, so keep the photoperiod short until the tank has matured and nutrients are under control.
The Bottom Line
A straightforward blue reef light for soft coral and LPS tanks.
