The NICREW HyperReef 200 Gen 2 is the 200W version of the HyperReef 100 Gen 2. It is built for SPS and LPS corals and saltwater fish in bigger reef tanks, with 5 fully programmable channels and NICREW’s enhanced violet and blue spectrum.
When to choose the 200
Pick the 200 when one fixture needs to reach a wider footprint or deeper water, or when you want to run it below its maximum and still have headroom. Running a strong light at moderate output is often gentler on corals than pushing a smaller one hard.
Wide, even light

A custom wide-angle optical system spreads PAR across the tank and removes hotspots. Even light means fewer bleached tips on corals directly below the fixture, and fewer shaded dead zones at the edges.
Thermal design

Doubling wattage means more heat. Gen 2 pairs a new fan with a redesigned heatsink to keep it cool with minimal noise. Leave space above the fixture for airflow and keep dust off the vents.
Control and mounting

Two USB-C control ports connect an external controller, sold separately. Mounting options include multiple-light systems, single arms and hanging kits.
Acclimation plan
- Start well under half power with short peak hours.
- Raise peak intensity gradually over several weeks.
- Watch for pale coral or receding tissue and back off if you see it.
Supporting a high-light reef
High light drives fast calcification, so alkalinity, calcium and magnesium must stay stable. Plan for dosing, regular testing and a reliable salt such as Red Sea Coral Pro. Flow should be strong enough to keep coral surfaces clean under all that light.
Mount height matters with a fixture this strong. Higher placement widens coverage and softens intensity, which is often the better route than dimming alone. Keep a log of each change so you can trace any coral response back to it.
The Bottom Line
A high-output reef light for larger SPS and mixed reef tanks.
