Why a multi-species bundle

A new planted tank benefits from variety. Different species grow at different speeds and use nutrients in different ways. Starting with many types lets you see which ones thrive in your water and light, then propagate the winners.

Sorting and planting

• Lay plants out on a wet towel and group by type.
• Put tall and fast stem plants at the back.
• Place medium rosettes in the middle.
• Keep low plants and mosses in front.
• Attach anything with a rhizome to wood or rock rather than burying it.

Weather advisory

Swimming Creatures recommends not ordering if your area is below 32°F or above 90°F. Extreme temperatures can damage plants in transit.

First weeks

Some plants will melt back as they adjust. Remove dead leaves quickly to keep water clean. Run moderate light and dose a liquid fertilizer such as API LEAF ZONE. Fast-growing stems help absorb excess nutrients and reduce algae while slower plants catch up.

Quarantine and pests

Rinse plants well and check for snails. Some keepers dip new plants in a mild treatment before planting; if you do, rinse thoroughly afterward.

Learning from the mix

Keep a note of which species flourish and which struggle after a month. That tells you a lot about your tank’s light and nutrients, and guides future purchases.
