The hygger HG033 is a 6W clip-on light for 0.5 to 5 gallon freshwater tanks around 8 to 12 inches long. The light head is 5.7 inches long and spreads roughly 12 inches. It comes with a 5.2 ft USB cable and a 5V/2A adapter, so it is ready to plug in.
Mounting
A metal clip bracket with a tightening screw holds framed or frameless glass up to 0.98 inches thick. A 4.5-inch, 360° gooseneck lets you aim the head straight down or tilt it to light the front of the scape.
Three modes

You can run blue only, white only or all LEDs, and each mode has 5 brightness levels. Blue on its own makes a soft evening view; full mode is for daytime and plants.
Timer and memory

The timer offers 6, 9 and 12 hour periods and repeats daily. After a power failure the lamp returns to the previous color, brightness and timing, so you do not have to reset it.
Plants it supports

The 5730 LEDs give enough light for low to mid light plants: anubias, java fern, cryptocoryne and mosses. hygger notes it is not for saltwater use. The aluminum shell helps shed heat and the sealed cover keeps vapor out, but it should still sit above, not in, the water.
How it compares
- Includes the adapter, unlike the Pawfly 6W clip-on
- Simpler than the hygger 14W 24/7 clip-on, which adds a full day cycle
For a betta or shrimp tank on a desk, the 9 hour setting is a reasonable default.
If the tank has a hinged lid, clip the lamp to the side or back glass where the lid does not hit the gooseneck. Keep the USB adapter on a surge strip above the floor, and leave a small loop in the cable so drips cannot follow it to the outlet.
The Bottom Line
A dependable plug-and-play clip light for betta and shrimp nano tanks.
