The HOTOOLME Aquarium Scraper (model 040467) is a stainless steel blade cleaner for glass aquariums. It comes with 10 Blades, and the handle extends to a maximum length of 65 cm (25.63), making it a good fit for taller tanks where shorter scrapers fall short.

Blade design

The scraper head has a hollow design that reduces drag in the water, so strokes move faster with less effort. A right angle blade lets you work right into the corners of the tank. It removes algae, organic film and residue from glass in freshwater and seawater aquariums.

Using a blade safely

• Glass only; never use it on acrylic.
• Keep the blade off silicone seams.

Who it suits

Owners of tall glass tanks, especially reef keepers dealing with coralline and stubborn film. For standard-height tanks, the shorter Pronetcus algae scraper is easier to handle. For daily soft film, a pad tool like the API algae scraper is gentler and quicker.

Use short, overlapping strokes at a shallow angle and let the blade do the work. Pressing hard does not clean faster and raises the risk of chipping the edge or catching a seam. Store the scraper with the blade covered or removed so the edge stays sharp between uses.

Because the handle is long, brace it with both hands when working near the bottom of the tank. That gives better control over the angle and keeps the head steady as it passes the substrate line.
