The AQUANEAT Aquarium Vacuum Siphon is a hand pump water changer in a Large size. It drains water and debris from the tank, and it can also be used to add water back. The hose is approx. 1.6m (5.25ft) long, and AQUANEAT recommends it for tanks of 5gal and up.
Easy start
Place the nozzle and hose in the tank, squeeze the pump bulb several times, and water starts flowing. The tank water level has to stay higher than the end of the discharge hose for the siphon to keep running, so set your bucket on the floor.
Safe for small fish

A filter screen at the intake stops fish from being drawn up. AQUANEAT mentions betta, dwarf cichlids, guppies, glofish and goldfish, so it is a good fit for community and nano tanks where small fish come close to see what you are doing.
Gravel cleaning

The water inlet is 1.5 inches across. Push it into the gravel to lift waste, then pull back so the gravel falls out of the tube. Work across the bottom in small sections during each change.
5-in-1 cleaning set version

A listing for the same siphon comes with a 5-in-1 tool set that plugs onto a single handle: fish net, gravel rake, algae scraper, fork and sponge brush. It is a handy starter bundle if you have no cleaning tools yet.
Tips
- Pinch the hose to slow the flow around delicate plants.
- Rinse the screen and hose after each use.
- Treat new tap water before refilling.
Compare
For larger tanks with a sink nearby, the enomol 30ft water changer removes the buckets altogether. For a similar bulb siphon, see the Laifoo siphon vacuum.
Because the bulb also works for refilling, you can use it to move conditioned water back from a bucket set above the tank. That keeps the flow gentle and avoids pouring water straight onto the substrate or plants.
The Bottom Line
A simple, fish-safe siphon for small and mid-size tanks.
