The AMOSIJOY Ultra-Quiet Canister Filter is an external filter for freshwater tanks and turtle tanks. It sits below the tank, pulls water down through its media and pumps it back up. It also has a UV bulb to help with green water.
Easy priming
Canisters can be fiddly to start. This one has a siphon water filling nozzle: pour water into the nozzle to fill the inlet, plug the filter in and open the flow valve. Water then runs into the canister on its own, without needing to suck on a hose.
UV bulb and a spare

The filter ships with 2 bulbs, one fitted and one spare. UV light affects free-floating algae passing the bulb, which is why it can help clear a green tank. It won’t remove algae growing on surfaces, so keep a scraper handy.
Adjustable flow

A valve on the hose turns flow from full down to zero. Turn it down for gentle fish, or up for a messy turtle tank. Closing the valve also makes it easier to disconnect hoses for cleaning.
Noise

AMOSIJOY rates the sound at 30db or less, helped by the motor running with no air trapped inside. Bleed out air after cleaning and keep the canister level to help it stay quiet.
Media and support
Sponges and bio balls come in the box. You can add carbon in a bag if you want chemical filtration. The brand offers 180 days of customer service.
Clean the canister every month or two, depending on stock. Close the valve, disconnect the hoses, rinse the sponges in tank water and replace any worn parts. Check the hose clips and seals each time so the filter stays sealed and leak free.
Alternatives
For a widely supported canister, look at the Fluval 207 or the larger Fluval FX2.
The Bottom Line
A budget canister with UV for keepers fighting green water in freshwater or turtle tanks.
