The SEAOURA SR-657 is a full spectrum light for nano and small planted freshwater tanks from 12 to 18 inches long, roughly 2.5 to 15 gallons. It is a different model from the other SEAOURA 12-18 inch light, with more LED rows and a built-in day cycle.
LEDs and output
Seven rows hold 84 chips (5050 and 2835). SEAOURA lists CRI 92, PAR 81, 893 lumens and 12600K. There are 9 color options and 20 brightness levels. The extra red and blue are aimed at low to medium light plants such as java fern, anubias and amazon sword.
Three timers

You can program DAY, NIGHT and 24/7 modes. The 24/7 mode moves through sunrise, daylight, sunset and moonlight, with 15-minute gradual transitions so fish are not startled by lights snapping on. A built-in battery keeps the clock running during an outage, so the schedule resumes without resetting.
Fit

Extendable brackets cover 12 to 18 inch tanks, and the raised design spreads light more evenly. The housing is ultra-slim aluminum, which suits rimless nano tanks and desk setups where the fixture is on show.
Good matches

- Shrimp breeding tanks and nano communities
- Betta, guppy and tetra tanks with low-light plants
- Small nature-style or Iwagumi layouts that need even light
Setting it up
Start the daylight portion at a moderate brightness and raise it slowly over a few weeks while watching for algae on the glass and hardscape. Moonlight is optional; many keepers leave it on a low setting or off entirely. Pair strong light with steady fertilizing, such as Seachem Flourish Tabs for rooted plants.
Raise the brackets a little if you see hot spots on a very shallow tank, and lower the peak brightness for a shrimp tank, where the main goal is steady biofilm and moss growth rather than fast plant growth. Clean the slim housing with a dry cloth only.
The Bottom Line
A strong pick for small planted tanks that want a hands-off natural day cycle.
