Pawfly 11W Aquarium LED Light for 12-18 Inch Tanks

The Pawfly 11W Aquarium LED Light (model P-2500) is a full spectrum light for 123 to 183 fish tanks. A smaller 6 W version fits 63 to 103 tanks.

Spectrum

The light combines 6500 K white, 450 nm blue and 660 nm red. Pawfly lists LUX: 2500, PAR: 55 and CRI: 90. A high CRI means colors look true, and red at 660 nm is a wavelength plants use well.

Modes

Short press the M button to switch between daytime mode (all lights on) and night mode (blue only). Hold M for 3 seconds to turn everything off. In daytime mode, the W button controls white and red brightness and the B button controls blue. In night mode, B sets the blue level. There are 6 intensity levels.

Bracket

The extendable bracket adjusts from 11.53 up to 203, and the light works best on tanks 12 to 18 inches long.

No timer

There is no built-in timer, so add an outlet timer for a regular schedule. Many keepers run daytime mode for 6 hours or a little longer and switch off overnight; the blue night mode is best kept short.

Who it suits

Keepers of small freshwater and planted tanks who want true colors, separate white and blue control and a sealed, sturdy build. The 6 W version suits desktop nano tanks. Wipe the clear board occasionally to remove water spots that dull the output.

The sealed board and aluminum shell also mean condensation from a warm tank is less of a worry than with cheaper open-board lights.
