The hygger model 951 is a mini powerhead for 5 to 30 gallon tanks. It measures only 1.8 x 1.8 x 2 inches, draws between a min power of 3W and a max power of 14W, and is rated up to 1600 gph. It works in freshwater and saltwater aquariums.
LED controller
The controller lets you set pulse, wave strength and flow mode, so the current can rise and fall instead of blasting in one direction all day. A feeding mode switches the pump off for 10 minutes, then it restarts on its own. Because the power range runs from 3W up to 14W, you can keep it soft for a nano planted tank or turn it up for a small reef.
Why add a wave maker

- Clears dead spots where debris settles
- Keeps waste suspended so the filter can catch it
- Gives corals the moving water they need
- Breaks the surface for better gas exchange
Mounting

A strong magnet suction cup base holds it on glass up to 1/23 thick and makes repositioning quick. Power is 12V DC, so the pump in the water runs at low voltage.
Avoiding the err7 code

hygger gives clear steps for the err7 error. Always put the pump in the tank before plugging it in, and keep it at least 6 inches below the water surface. If the error appears, take the pump out, clean the white pole and the motor fan, and turn the fan by hand a few times so it spins freely before you power it again.
Good to know
On the smallest tanks, start at the lowest setting and watch how fish swim. Bettas and shrimp prefer slow water. For a larger tank, look at the hygger 850 GPH clear wave maker for larger tanks. It is also worth a look if you want a pump that is harder to spot in the scape.
The Bottom Line
A compact controllable powerhead for nano and small tanks.
