The hygger quiet air pump is a 3.5W dual outlet aerator rated for tanks up to 120 gallons, with a noise figure under 30dB. hygger lists maximum outputs of 80GPH, 160GPH and 255GPH across its range, and a control knob lets you turn the air down for calmer tanks.

How it keeps quiet

hygger calls its approach a 6-step design. The case is thickened ABS plastic, a stainless steel cover helps contain motor sound, and the motor runs on magnetic bearings rather than standard ones. Internal support feet keep the motor from touching the cover, and 8 rubber feet on the base absorb vibration. Together these target the buzz that makes many cheap pumps annoying in a quiet room.

Two outlets, many uses

Each outlet can drive a nano air stone, a biochemical sponge filter, an ornament or an air shell. Running two sponge filters, like the hygger double sponge filter, is a common way to use both lines. hygger notes the pump should not be used deeper than 3.9 feet of water.

Durability details

The motor uses full copper wire, and the diaphragm is a special synthetic rubber. An air intake filter on the bottom blocks dust, which protects the diaphragm and keeps output steady. The ABS case is described as anti-drop and wear-resistant.

Setup tips

Place the pump on a level, soft surface. Fit the check valve with its arrow toward the tank. Turn the knob down for bettas or fry, and up for goldfish or a heavily stocked community tank. Clean the intake area now and then if the room is dusty.
