Sukh Ceramic Rings are a biological filter media. The hollow, porous rings sit in a filter chamber and give nitrifying bacteria a large surface to live on. Those bacteria turn fish waste ammonia into less harmful compounds, which is the core job of any filter.
What’s in the pack
You get 15oz of white ceramic rings plus 3 mesh bags. The bags make it easy to split the rings across trays or pull them out in one go during maintenance.
Where they fit

Sukh lists compatibility with canister models numbered 104, 105, 106, 204, 205, 206, 304, 305, 306, 404, 405 and 406, plus the FX5 and FX6. In practice the rings fit any canister basket, sump chamber, hang-on filter with a media box, or pond filter. They work in freshwater and saltwater.
Setup

- Rinse the rings in clean water to clear dust.
- Bag them or pour them loose into the biological stage, after the sponge or floss.
- Put mechanical media first so the rings don’t clog with debris.
Maintenance

Swish the bag in old tank water during filter cleanings. Don’t scrub or tap-rinse. Sukh suggests replacing part of the media every six months to one year. Swap only part at a time so the bacteria colony stays intact.
How much to use
There is no exact ratio, but more bio media means more room for bacteria. Fill the biological basket of your filter rather than leaving it half empty, and keep some rings seeding in an established filter if you plan to set up another tank soon. Moving a bag of seeded rings is one of the fastest ways to cycle a new tank.
Compared with other bio media
Fluval BioMax is the brand-name option for Fluval canisters. Sukh rings do the same job as a generic refill. For a full canister, they pair well with the Fluval FX6 baskets.
The Bottom Line
A simple bio media refill. Rinse, bag it after the sponge stage and leave it alone.
