Why we recommend the CaribSea Arag-Alive Fiji Pink Reef Sand

Fiji Pink has long been a favorite for reefers chasing that soft, lagoon-floor aesthetic. The grains are fine and carry a gentle pink tint, so the finished bed looks less like crushed coral and more like a genuine tropical seabed. Like the rest of the Arag-Alive line, it ships wet and seeded with live bacteria, giving your new system a biological head start and easing the early ammonia spike that comes with cycling a marine tank.

Beyond looks, the aragonite does real work. It buffers pH toward the reef-friendly range and helps keep alkalinity and calcium stable, which corals and coralline algae appreciate. The fine grade is also kind to livestock that interact with the substrate: sand-sifting gobies, wrasses that dive into the sand at night, and clean-up invertebrates all do well on grains this size. The trade-off is that fine sand moves easily, so you will want to aim powerheads thoughtfully to avoid scouring or piling, and expect some cloudiness while it settles.
